Product Stewardship Conference
Seattle, WA
Product stewardship is a policy which ensures that responsibility for end-of-life product management is shared with the producers, and all entities involved in the product chain, instead of just the general public. In Canada and Europe, product stewardship is a common business practice that involves manufacturers, retailers, recyclers and processors. In Washington State, the new E-Cycle Washington program is an example of a product stewardship program where the TV and computer manufacturers provide free recycling for Washington residents' TVs, computers and monitors (see http://www.ecyclewashington.org ). On June 1 to June 4, the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) and the Northwest Chapter of the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (NAHMMA) are offering a joint conference in Seattle, WA focused on product stewardship, chemicals policy, and household hazardous waste management. Come learn more about product stewardship and how you can help make a difference. Join us on a tour to British Columbia, Canada to see their product stewardship programs for paint, electronics, packaging, beverage containers and household hazardous waste. Hear from expert speakers and participate in forums, breakout-sessions, trainings and workshops! You can also receive 12 continuing education units from our conference!
